We are a resident led PAC (Political Action Committee) created to oppose the rezoning which is on this November 2nd’s ballot. The community has opposed this higher density rezoning from the beginning while trying to get our elected officials and the developer to do the right thing and bring the development in line with the Comprehensive Plan the residents helped create over a 3-year period.
They did not listen to the residents and passed the rezoning anyway. The residents collected 604 signatures on a petition for referendum putting this on the ballot to let the YOU decide, rather than just three trustees. The developer and landowner tried to get the referendum thrown off the ballot. The residents fought back and defended the right for YOU to vote on this matter at a cost of over $25,000.
What is at stake here if we lose is setting a bad precedent where developers and trustees can use the PMUD (Planned Mixed-Use Development) for residential development only. PMUD is meant for combining various different development in one area harmoniously. For example, combining commercial storefronts with apartments above. Mixing restaurants at the street with residential behind. What Pulte and the trustees were doing is an end-run around existing residential zoning for a strict single family development at a much higher density currently allowed. This would allow them to disregard existing minimum lot size requirements and density restrictions.
We must follow our existing zoning and Comprehensive Plan. Development must be well planned and then that plan must be followed. Right now, the trustees are ignoring that plan for their own wishes.

Look out for the developer and their supporters to try and confuse you. The husband of an Etna Township Zoning Commission Member created a PAC against our referendum. They sent our a deceptive postcard (paid for by the land owner). Now, The developer’s attorney has taken control of the PAC. The PAC has used names such as “Etna Residents for Responsible Growth”, “Etna Citizens for Responsible Growth”, and “Residents for Responsible Growth”.
This PAC is not resident driven but that of the developer, land owner and those supporting the trustees.
In our opinion, a more suitable name would be “Developer for Increased Profit at the Expense of the Township Residents”. If they would deceive you with their name, would they be honest about anything?
